Celebrating Those Who Celebrate There Community

In the words of Antoine de Saint-Exupery… “A man’s age is something impressive, it sums up his life: Maturity reached slowly against many obstacles, illnesses cured, griefs and despairs overcome, and unconscious risks taken; maturity formed through so many desires, hopes. regrets, forgotten things, loves. A man’s age represents a fine cargo of experiences and memories.”
Artistic Vision and Design was able to witness these words in living color after being hired to shoot the Hershman Medical Center’s Annual Lunch. The event was a luncheon celebrating the elderly patients who have been with these doctors for over 10 years.  Judging by the love and the comradery between the doctors and the patients, it was obvious that the ties that bound them together was strong.
Hershman Medical Center is a community driven center that clearly believes in staying connected with their patients. These elderly patients were invited by the doctors to dine in style in a ballroom setting, similar to that of the Signature Grand. The energy-filled room was drenched with years of wisdom and life stories that if permitted to tell, would leave many of us speechless, in tears or absolute bewilderment. I can only imagine the wealth of memories that each elderly patient possessed. Everyone was thoroughly enjoying themselves, partying and chatting it up with each other. The laughter and love was contagious and you couldn’t help but bask in it. These doctors not only created new and exciting memories for their elderly patients… but had it captured photographically to ensure this story of celebration lived on… forever.
It was certainly an honor for AVD to be a part of this epic recording.

If our lens could speak, it would re-echo the words of J.A. Froude-

“Beautiful is old age- Beautiful as the slow-dropping mellow autumn of a rich glorious summer. In the old man, Nature has fulfilled her work; she loads him with blessings; she fills him with the fruits of a well-spent life; and, surrounded by his children and is children’s children, she rocks him softly to a grave, wo which he is followed with blessings. God forbid we should not call it “Beautiful.”
