The Cruz Building Sweet 16 & Quince Photography, Miami FL

Velencia’s Sweet 16 Portraits at The Cruz Building in Coconut Grove, FL with AVD
Sleepy but excited, Valencia was ready for her Sweet Sixteen Photo shoot at The Cruz Building in Coconut Groove, Florida. Makeup calltime was scheduled for 7am sharp at AVD’s studio in Davie Florida, and there was no way Valencia was going to be late… I mean, she has been planning this photoshoot for the past 2 years, and there was no way sleep was going to stop her from being on time. Valencia was surrounded by her very own “Dream Team”… We came in armed and ready… pulling out all the stops for the this shoot! Photographers Tony & Mimi, Makeup Artist Keesha Superspice, Stylist Tonita, Hairstylist Loyin and of course Mom, who was not too far off, giving her nod of approval every now and again.

First look… VINTAGE.
Neutral eyes teamed up with the famous “red lips”. Hair pinned to perfection and topped off with a beautiful black fascinator (hair piece). Polka dot dress with a single strand of pearl, softly cascading down her neck and sealed with the daintiest pair of lace gloves… an “Old Hollywood” look was being relived through the eyes of a 21st century teenage girl.
We were even more excited when we walked in the venue… Cobblestone walls, distressed looking floors with old oakwood doors, low-lit dated chandeliers… the scene was PERFECT!

Second look… ROCKER CHIC.
Lip color was changed to a soft pink. Hair braided to one side. Rocking an army green vest, white cropped top, black high waist shorts and caged sandals. The look was completed with a pair of Prada shades. An extremely “hot look” on a hot sunny day in the Gables.

Third and final look… PRETTY PRINCESS.
Fuchsia tutu with a coral body suit, floral high heeled sandals, a beautiful flowered-halo framed her soft curls… highlighted with popping fuschia lips. This final look was the icing on the cake. The selected poses and the specific locations sealed the deal. The camera seemed to flash with more excitement than before and the subject was more alive than ever.
If the walls could talk they would utter… BRAVO, BRAVO, JOB WELL DONE!
Audrey Hepburn would definitely be proud!

It’s important that when you are planning an on-location photo shoot, you choose a location that will represent the vision that you have in mind. Having a place like The Cruz Building, nestled in the quiet yet famous city of Coral Gables, not only are we able to transpose the client’s vision into a rustic storyline powered by a vintage theme, but we were also able to capture the memories in a more magnified way. The secret of it’s existence is exactly why this place is so magical. Being strategic and specific when choosing a location is imperative to the outcome of your final pictures. This will definitely create a more exciting and memorable experience for the photographer and most importantly, you, the client. So take the time to research for the ideal location and make the necessary preparation to ensure that your vision comes to life.
